Report Designer Layout Files

The Layout files are special files that determine how your stationery and reports are printed; where they print, what they include and what they look like.

The Layout files contain:

image\bullet.gifPrinter and page size information.
When you print a layout file, it knows which printer to use and what the paper size should be.
Connecting a type of stationery to a specific printer and paper size is useful because for example, your letters will normally be printed on one printer (i.e. Laser) but your invoices may be printed on another (Dot Matrix). Layout files make it easy for you because they know where they are supposed to go.

image\bullet.gifObjects.
An object can be either text or a variable, and can be placed anywhere on the layout page.
